Stoney and Mosby, two guys looking for a big couch
Mosby doesn't say much, so I do most of the talking. Man, it's been rough. Not as bad as some have had it, sure. But it wasn't easy.
Mosby and I are brothers from the same litter. I guess we're big guys. Mosby's bigger than me, that's for sure. Last we checked, he's about 18 pounds! I'm a more trim 14 pounds.
We used to live with an older couple. For no reason we can figure out, they had our front claws removed. It hurt. A lot. Don't kid yourself, folks. Declawing sucks, take it from me. I think it hurt Mosby more than me but, like I said, he doesn't say much.
So there we were, 7 years old, declawed and getting fat. Suddenly we find ourselves in carriers being dropped off at a petfood store! I can't think of what we did or said, but the old couple just didn't want to live with us anymore. That hurt, almost as much as the declawing.
We went to live with about 30 other cats with AdvoCATs. They're wonderful people, but I was too angry to appreciate them. I just sat there and growled. Mosby, quiet guy that he is, just sat on a pillow and cried. He's a sensitive boy, my brother.
But, now we're in foster care. Two "crazy cat ladies" have been fostering us for 5 months. We're much happier in their house (with only 4 other cats). We're eating weight management food. They get us to play now and then. We've had a couple of misadventures, but the ladies are forgiving. The Washington Post even came and interviewed us about being foster cats!
We know we can't stay here forever. The short lady keeps saying our "person" has to find us. I hope, if you're reading this, you'll think about being our person. We've learned a lot about love from our foster family. We'd love to teach you, too.
Editor's Note: The foster moms turned out to be quite sane. They discovered that Stoney and Mosby are too sweet, funny, and wonderful to let them live with anyone else! They have, however, promised to get Mosby to loose about 10 pounds. Got any suggestions?
