Our team of volunteers continues its labor of love in helping homeless cats find forever loving homes and it is in that spirit that we are sending this “Can You Help” request for assistance in finding homes for a number of adult cats that, by no fault of their own, have not been adopted. Some of these cats have lost their families and as “seniors” do not get the attention typically given to kittens or younger cats; some have expressed great displeasure in participating in our adoption events and therefore are not seen unless someone visits our facility; others are shy and need time and patience to warm up to new people and situations; and, some have health issues that while manageable, do require daily medication. We also have a group of cats in need of homes that would permit safe indoor-outdoor access. Read our article on the best reasons to adopt an adult cat!

Calico catAlexis is a beautiful, 8 year old calico cat. Alexis chooses carefully the people she wants to be around. She does not like to be confined (hence we cannot bring her to adoption fairs anymore). She likes attention providing it is on her own terms. She does not like to be picked up.
  • Recommended Placement: Only Cat
  • Is Accustomed to both Indoor/Outdoor Access

Calico catAngelica is a lovely, 4 year old calico who came to AdvoCATs with three beautiful kittens! All three kittens found homes, now it's Angelica's turn. Angelica is a very friendly girl. She can and likes to be picked up and she likes affection but she is decidedly not a lap-cat. We believe she would be fine with kids.

  • Recommended Placement: Can Be Around Other Cats
  • Is Accustomed to both Indoor/Outdoor Access

Angie was adopted from us as a kitten and was returned in early Summer 2007 because a child in her family developed allergies. It was with reluctance that her family returned her to us and since then Angie has developed severe depression. Angie needs a home that understands depression and a family committed to helping her. She needs a very patient person with low expectations for a “performance” cat in active search of attention. That said, Angie can be a very sweet cat; she just needs someone to help her find her way.

  • Recommended Placement: Must be an Only Cat
  • SPECIAL NEED: Angie suffered from severe depression. Medication and special attention have helped her tremendously! She's looking the someone who'll heal her heart.
Black and brown tabbyBeaggles is a guy who's been around a while. He was rescued after washing up on the shore of Virginia Beach after a Hurricane in the 1990s. He is a very friendly, easy-going guy who because of his age sleeps a lot. He will be a great buddy and is low-maintenance. We assess that he would be good with kids and ok with a dog (provided the right introduction steps are taken).
  • Beaggles is at least 13 years old
  • Recommended Placement: Fine with Other Cats, Indoor/Outdoor cat.
Bella came into our care after being found on the streets. Her rescuer did her best to integrate Bella into her home, but the resident cat was too dominant. Bella is a quiet, laid back cat when she settles in. (Check out Bella's blog entry written by her rescuer!) However, she will not be brought to Adoption Events because she has made clear that she will not tolerate the confines of the safety cages we use to house the cats during these Events.
  • 4 or 5 years old (Born 2003/2004)
  • Recommended Placement: Gets along with other cats

Buttercup, was originally adopted in 2003 and returned in Summer 2007 because she urinated outside the box. Her family was good to her but could no longer handle working with Buttercup through her urinating problem. In addition, they were moving overseas. Back in AdvoCATs care, we have observed that Buttercup defecates inside the litterbox and will turn a cat bed upside down and urinate on that. She will need a family that would be willing to have two litterboxes, one for defecation and one with a catbed on which Buttercup can urinate. Rather than scooping litter, clean up would involve rinsing off and switching out pads for laundering. Buttercup will participate in adoption events but is listed here because of her age. As for her personality, Buttercup is incredibly sweet, very snuggly, and will make a wonderful companion.

  • Buttercup is 13 years old.
  • She is also declawed (front) and is an indoor only cat.
White and brown tabbyCandy is a very playful, high-energy cat who needs a person/family willing to work with her on manners and in getting her used to new situations. She's just over a year old, so she will calm down once she's in a stable home environment. In our work with Candy, we have noticed that approaching her while she is sleeping is the best time to build her trust and confidence. ** Candy will participate in adoption events but is listed here because though young and active is scared of people. **
  • Recommended Placement: Needs a playmate; ok in a home with older children.
  • Indoor only.
Black cat Cinder came to AdvoCATs as an abandoned kitten in a dirty cardboard box left in front on a store in Orange, Virginia with a note reading, “Free to Good Home.” Cinder had surgery to correct a prolapsed rectum and since the procedure has had no health problems. She is a loving, playful, 3 year old cat.
  • Needs both indoor/outdoor access
  • Recommended Placement: Will be fine with other cats or as an only cat; will be ok in a home with children.
Tuxedo Cleo was adopted in 2002 returned to AdvoCATs in May 2007 because of outside-the-litterbox urination. Her former family worked with a veterinarian to rule out health problems as a cause of the changed behavior. We introduced Cleo to safe outdoor access, which ended her indoor outside-the-box urination. Cleo is7 years old.
  • Recommended Placement: Needs a feline buddy.
  • Having both indoor/outdoor access will ensure Cleo will not urinate outside the box (but inside the house).
Danny is 3 years old and has been with AdvoCATs his whole life! He's a scared boy who needs time and patience but will come around and when he does he’s going to want lots of love. Danny’s foster mom rates him as one of the sweetest, most loving, and gentle cats she’s ever cared for but notes that it took several weeks to earn Danny’s trust. Danny’s sign he likes you is a head butt against your leg. He is buddies with Manny (his foster care brother) and he needs to have a feline companion in those moments of uncertainty or unfamiliarity. Danny will be best in a home without small children.
  • Recommended Placement: Needs a feline buddy; we suggest Manny.
Grey and white catEsmeralda is a kitty who knows what she’s looking for in a family and she’s quite selective. After a year with AdvoCATs she adopted her family; she returned to AdvoCATs in 2007 when the family thought there was something medically wrong with her despite veterinarian assurances to the contrary. We have not observed any health problems with Esmeralda since her return to our Madison facility. She likes to lay on a soft blanket and really enjoys hanging around the office (especially if there's room on your desk).
  • Recommended Placement: Only Cat
  • POTENTIAL SPECIAL NEED: Esmeralda may have allergies but we have seen no evidence of this since her return

Gina, was abandoned with two siblings outside a pet store in 2002. She came into AdvoCATs care and was adopted soon after with her brother.  Gina was returned in August 2007 (without her brother) for reasons not clear to us (her family said they just don't like her ... we think she's pretty great).  She is a sweet-tempered lady who likes attention and gets along with people and other cats.

  • Recommended Placement: Gina is super sweet, affectionate, and playful with people. She would do very well on her own but would also adjust to living with other cats.
  • GINA GOT ADOPTED!
Grey cat Grace needs a person or family that really wants to love and care for a cat and understand that she will welcome attention but when she wants it and not necessarily everytime they want to convey it. Sometimes, Grace will run or hide when she does not want attention; at other times, she will sit in place and let you pet her at length when she is amenable. Grace is a low-maintenance cat with a good temperament who needs time, patience, and understanding.
  • Recommended Placement: Fine with other cats but will not likely interact with them.
Black and white cat

Harry has been with us, off and on, since he was a very little guy! Every family who has had the chance to care for him loved his personality. He does, however, like to be "top cat" which is not so good for his health (see below). All around, Harry is a great cat, personality wise. He likes to be covered with a blanket when he sleeps and he’ll burrow up under the covers on your bed when he’s ready for a nap. He also likes to jump on countertops.

  • We believe Harry would be great with other cats, children, and possibly a dog.
  • SPECIAL NEED: Harry has a heart condition that requires medication administration of ½ tablet every day. The medication costs approximately $4 per month. Harry has been on this medication since 2002 so he is used to taking a pill. Because Harry’s condition is stabilized (no change in his condition for several years) his heart can be monitored by a “regular” veterinarian. If there is a change in his condition, a visit to a feline cardiologist may be required.

* Harry can be brought to adoption events but he is listed here because of his age, his time in AdvoCATS’ care, and because of his special need. **

White cat with calico markings Heather is a talker. She does not like to be picked up and can be temperamental in receiving affection (she’ll let you know when she’s ready for your love). She would be best suited in a home with adults who want to care for a cat, who have patience to get Heather use to new situations, and who are not looking for a “needy” or “clingy” buddy.
  • Accustomed to both indoor/outdoor access
  • Recommended Placement: Only cat but would co-exist peacefully with Reba (see separate entry); we assess she would do better in a home without children.
Tuxedo with on Holly was rescued from a feral colony from behind a PETCO store in Northern Virginia. Her left eye was so severely damaged it had to be removed to save her life. One of our volunteers assessed that Holly is not necessarily a feral cat but will need a patient person to help draw out her friendliness and trust. Holly needs someone who wants to take care of a cat and have a companion but not necessarily a best buddy. Ideally, she’d like a “caretaker” relationship with you as the giver, leaving her to take what she wants, when she wants it. That said, she is a good cat who will not get in your way but will be around to observe and participate at a distance. She wants you to earn her love but even then she will return it only on her terms.
  • Recommended Placement: Holly gets along very well with other cats in the playroom and would do best in a home with feline companions.
  • Holly should be kept indoors.

Katie, is 5 years old. That's young, compared to some cats, but she's sensitive and a little shell shocked since she had to leave her home. Her pet parent had a chronic disability that forced her to give up Katie and Thomas (see below). Since coming back to Madison, they've been on their own, adjusting slowly to the change. So why is Katie on this list? She and Thomas are completely bonded to one another. If we were to separate them now, they would most likely stop eating and quickly slip into liver failure.

  • Recommended placement: Katie and Thomas must be placed together. The ideal home would be with adults and, possibly, older children. They will need to be given time to adjust to new surroundings. Once they know they're home forever, they'll be wonderful, loving companions!
  • KATIE GOT ADOPTED!!
Dilute calico

Lady is 8 years old. She enjoys giving and receiving attention and affection but she is not needy, clingy, or high-maintenance (with the exception of the medication requirement). She likes to position herself under furniture that offers a good view of what’s going on in a room. She’s not hiding per se because she’ll let you pet her or sit near her, she just prefers a lower ceiling that most.

  • Recommended Placement: Only cat or with other cats though we would not expect her to become buddies with other cats
  • SPECIAL NEED: Lady has a treatable condition called “Mega-Colon” which requires daily administration of a liquid medication (Enulose) which can be given directly or by mixing into wet food. The medication costs approximately $5 per month. Without her medication, Lady experiences excruciating pain and her shrieking (from the pain) is unlike anything you want to hear. Surgery to remove Lady’s colon is another option and AdvoCATs is willing to work with prospective families on this option.
Like VISA, Loretta is everywhere you want to be. Loretta is a very friendly cat to people (not so much to other felines) and will greet anyone who walks into a room and follow her person/people around (she has a blog entry). She’s great company, loves to get attention and as a long-haired beauty will require assistance in her upkeep to prevent tangles and painful matting. She's been with AdvoCATs for quite some time. Her previous pet parent had to care for her elderly parent and could not keep Loretta in the same house. ** Loretta occasionally participates in adoption events but is included here because of her age and the length of time she’s been with us without her home finding her. **
  • Loretta is a Turkish Van (longhair with calico markings on her head and tail)
  • She is 8 years old (born 1999) and has been with AdvoCATs since 2004 (3 years)
  • Recommended Placement: Loretta prefers to be an only cat, but she can coexist with other felines (provided they don't want to interact too much). She's also lived well with dogs.
  • LORETTA GOT ADOPTED!
Malamar, is absolutely as sweet as her name! She came to AdvoCATs as a scrawny teen. She blossomed in our playroom and won the hearts of all of the volunteers. We were very excited when she found a home with a family, but things didn't quite work out in Malamar's favor. She's back with us and patiently waiting for a new home. She loves the company of other cats, plays well with children, and would be happy just about anywhere! Malamar is 5 years old.
  • Recommended Placement: Will be fine with other cats but can go as an only cat.
  • Malamar should remain indoors.
  • MALAMAR GOT ADOPTED!
Magdalene, is a true sweetheart. She enters and exits her carrier with ease and she doesn’t mind being picked up. She came to AdvoCATs with three kittens, all of whom have found homes. Magdalene was a fantastic mom and we are confident she will be a great companion to a person/family. ** Magdalene participates in adoption events but is listed here because of her age and length of time she’s been with us without her home finding her. **
  • Recommended Placement: Will be fine with other cats but can go as an only cat.
  • Magdalene should remain indoors.

Mandy is a shy girl who warms up when given the opportunity to approach new situations on her own terms and in her own time (which is fairly quickly once she’s comfortable with her environment). In warming up to you she will lower or bow her head as an invitation for a head scratch which can then progress to cheeks, chin, and so on. She does not like to be caught by surprise so approaching her from the side without warning will cause her to dart off and restart the trust building. She is a true love and once she “accepts” you will follow you around seeking more affection and attention. She will be an excellent companion for someone(s) who can appreciate shyness that comes with a sincere search for affection. ** Mandy participates in adoption events but is included here because of the length of time she has been with us without her home finding her. **

  • Recommended placement: Mandy really enjoys the company of other cats. They're who she'll relate to first. Mica or Magdalene might be good companions for Mandy.
  • Mandy should remain an indoor-only cat.
Manny is a shy kitty who will come around fairly quickly provided you do not force him. He is a warm caring boy who will let you pet and massage him for a long time, once he trusts you. He was in foster care for four months and earned a reputation for being very loving, charming, and a great catch. He never raised a nail or tooth or hissed, even when he was uncertain about his surroundings. He does get sad so he will need a family attentive to his need for love and affection and playtime. He is buddies with Danny (from foster care) and they’d make a great team in someone’s home and family. ** Manny participates in adoption events but is listed here because of the length of time he has been with AdvoCATs without his family finding him. **
  • Manny is 3 years old (born April 2005) and has been with AdvoCATs since November 2005 (almost 3 years)
  • Recommended Placement: Needs a buddy; we suggest Danny. Manny should remain an indoor-only cat.
  • MANNY GOT ADOPTED!

Martha is a scared girl who will need a family that is patient and kind and will allow Martha to get settled in her own time and on her own terms. She will accept loving once she’s comfortable and she will return that love ten fold. Her skittishness (and ability to run/hide) keeps her from being a regular participant in adoption events. ** Martha participates in adoption events but is listed here because of her age and length of time with AdvoCATs without her home finding her. **

  • Martha is 3 years old and has been with AdvoCATs most of that time.
  • Recommended placement: Martha really enjoys the company of other cats. She would do very well in a home with other cats. Mandy or Mica would make good companions for her.
  • Martha should remain and indoor-only cat.
Mica was rescued from the Madison County Shelter along with her siblings when they were very tiny kittens. She has been with AdvoCATs most of the time, except for a brief period when she was adopted by a family. However, they felt she was too introverted for them. Mica will be shy at first but will come around quickly in getting settled in a new environment and family. She is a loving kitty in AdvoCATs care since she was a kitten. ** Mica participates in adoption events but is listed here because of her age and length of time with AdvoCATs without her home finding her. **
  • Mica is 3 years old and has been with AdvoCATs since she was a kitten.
  • Recommended Placement: Needs a buddy. Martha or Mandy would be great companions for her!

Calico cat At a very young 8 years old, Nikki is a committed lap-sitter and lap-“napper” too. She loves attention and is quite affectionate but is not needy or clingy. She like to follow her people around and, though she has a sweet disposition toward people and cats, she is a committed rodent hunter. Nikki suffered an injury to her tail (leaving it crooked) before coming to AdvoCATs but she is in good health with no residual tail problems.

  • Nikki needs both indoor and outdoor access.
  • Recommended Placement: Gets along with other cats and would make a great addition to home that already has cats.

Tuxedo catNikko Rescued from a feral cat colony in the summer of 2002, Nikko and her sister Onyx lived with a foster guardian for several months before being adopted in January 2003. After almost five years with their family, these girls returned to AdvoCATs owing to their guardian's job-transfer to a situation that does not permit pets in the housing. Nikko's return to AdvoCATs care has been smooth as she is a friendly, no-attitude, go-with-the-flow gal.

  • Recommended placement: Nikko and her sister are committed pals; as such, it's important they stay together in the search for a new home and family.
  • NIKKO GOT ADOPTED!
Onyx Born in July 2002 and adopted in January 2003, Onyx and her sibling Nikko are laid-back, cool cats who need to stay together and will work well in a home with other kitties. Given their easy adjustment back into the AdvoCATs facility in Madison, we anticiapte an equally smooth transition to a new home, provided these girls go together. Like her sister, Onyx gives and is receptive to attention and at age 5, still has a long life of playing and purring ahead of her.
  • Recommended placement: Onyx and her sister are committed pals; as such, it's important they stay together in the search for a new home and family.
  • ONYX GOT ADOPTED!

Tuxedo Patti has been with AdvoCATs since she was a tiny kitten and whether by her own accord or in the absence of her own family, Patti comes across as a stand-offish cat. While she does exhibit feral tendencies, we assess that Patti would do well with someone (or a family) that will give her sufficient space and recognize that when she wants attention, she’ll let you know. As such, Patti is a low-maintenance cat who will be happy in a situation where she can observe and be observed but not bothered to play or purr or pounce according to someone else’s pleasure. ** Patti will not participate in Adoption Events and is listed here because of her age, time with AdvoCATs without getting adopted.**

  • Recommended placement: Patti does very well with other cats, and would also be find on her own.
  • Patti should remain an indoor cat.

Paul is a “runner” – meaning he is hard to catch and he’s quick to run when he is approached. Paul needs a home and a family that will give him time to get used to his surroundings and work with him to build his trust and confidence to mitigate whatever drives him to run through open doors and away from people. Paul’s family will have to pay particular attention to keeping him away from doors that allow “escape” to the outdoors or hiding places (we can offer suggestions on how to handle this type of training). Paul is a sweet boy who willingly accepts both attention and affection. ** Paul can be brought to adoption fairs but cannot be taken out of the cage given his propensity to get scared and try to escape. **
  • Paul is 2 years old and has been with AdvoCATs his whole life.
  • Recommended Placement: With his brother Peter (see below). Paul must remain indoor-only.

Perrin If you want to be needed like you've never been needed before . consider Perrin. This guy cannot get enough attention! Perrin came to AdvoCATS along with Starsky and Sandy (see separate entries) when their guardian's misfortune required their relinquishment. He's a truly great cat but his personality is one that seeks lots of time, attention, and affection (to a degree we cannot satisfy given all of the kitties in our care). Perrin prefers to get wet food twice a day. ** Perrin will be brought to adoption events but is listed here because of his age. **

  • Recommended Placement: Perrin could be happy with a buddy or as an only cat, as long as he gets to give you attention; he would be great in a home with children.
Perry has use of only one of his eyes (due to neglect by a former caregiver) but that does not slow him down in any way. After a few months living on a farm, Perry returned to AdvoCATs care in 2006 in search of copious amounts of attention … more than we can fairly devote to any one kitty. Perry is curious but predictable … he’ll investigate new things but once you walk in the room he’s all about being next to you so as not to miss an opportunity for attention and affection. Perry likes both kibble and wet food (which he gets twice a day). Perry is 2 years old.
  • Perry is fine with both indoor and outdoor access.
  • Recommended Placement: Needs a Buddy; would be great in a home with kids.

Peter, was rescued as a kitten. He has made a name for himself at our Madison facility as a “runner” – meaning he knows when you’re looking for him and he’s great at running and hiding. If there’s an open doorway, he’s going through it. As such, it is difficult to show Peter at adoption events because of his propensity to try to “escape” when being shown to prospective pet parents. Peter needs a family that will give him the time, space and training to build confidence, learn to trust, and calm down. Peter’s family will have to pay particular attention to keeping him away from doors that allow “escape” to the outdoors or hiding places (we can offer suggestions on how to handle this training). Like his brother, Peter is a sweet boy very accepting of attention and affection. ** Peter can be brought to adoption events but will not be taken out for holding/petting/visiting. Anyone interested in meeting Peter should visit him in Madison. **

  • Peter is 2 years old.
  • Recommended placement: Peter really needs the company of other cats and is very fond of his brother Paul (see above). He must remain an indoor-only cat.
  • PETER GOT ADOPTED!!
White cat Rachel lost her ear flaps to cancer. She does not have any problems with her hearing, so when people comment on her unusual ear situation, she knows it. Rachel is reserved but we expect her to warm up gradually to accept a new environment/family. Once she is comfortable with you, Rachel will allow you to pick her up and hold her. She loves attention but will need her family to take the initiative to seek it out from her. Rachel is about 9 or 10 years old.
  • Recommended Placement: Only cat
  • SPECIAL NEED: Rachel is susceptible to skin cancer and, therefore, should not spend time in the direct sun.

Black and white Reba is a friendly, talkative, “blob” of a cat who was dumped at PetSmart after her former guardian died without a plan for Reba’s care. Reba will not let you pick her up but she will let you pet her (providing you gradually build up to that level of trust). Reba is a great cat for someone looking for a companion but not a buddy that stays by one’s side. She’s a beautiful girl who maximizes her lounging and napping opportunities. Reba is 8 years old.

  • Recommended Placement: Only cat but can co-exist peacefully with Heather (see separate entry)
Grey Tabby The first rule of living with Roberta is to accept that she does not want to be picked up … with one exception (see below). She will accept being petted once she has accepted you and her surroundings. At one time her favorite place to hang out was to wedge herself between the back of a chair and the back of the person sitting in that chair. She tired of that and now has a routine where she ascends a bathroom counter and waits for a volunteer to carry her across several rooms and place her on top of a filing cabinet. We’re confident she has more “see what I make my staff do” tricks up her paw but we’re hoping to know about those from updates from Roberta’s eventual family. She is a very scared girl who needs time and patience to come around to new surroundings and new people.
  • Roberta is 7 years old and has been with us since she was a kitten.
  • Recommended Placement: Ok with other cats but recommend against a home with small children, much commotion, and frequent change
Sandy came to AdvoCATS along with Starsky and Perrin (see separate entries) when their guardian’s misfortune required their relinquishment. She's very sweet and playful, but will take some time to adjust to her new surrounding and the new people in her life. ** Sandy will be brought to adoption events but is listed here because of her age. **
  • Recommended Placement: Needs a buddy; we recommend Starsky, with whom she has grown up and bonded
  • SANDY GOT ADOPTED!!
Black catScar is a very loving cat – both in giving and receiving attention and affection. He's also a stunning cat, with long, soft hair you simply cannot resist petting (and he won't mind a bit). Scar will sit by your side, sit in your lap, and follow you around. He’s looking to be a buddy to another person or people and at his age he’s quite the accomplished nap taker too (which he’ll do in your lap and by your side). Scar is about 13 years old and came to AdvoCATs when his pet parent died of cancer.
  • Needs to have both indoor and outdoor access
  • Recommended Placement: Will be fine with other cats or as an only cat

Scooter is a great cat and a great catch … if you like a mature guy who likes attention, gives and receives affection but isn’t clingy or whiny or too needy. Scooter was originally adopted from another rescue group and lived with Angie (see separate entry). Scooter came to AdvoCATs in early Summer 2007 with Angie when a member of his family developed allergies. His family reluctantly relinquished Scooter who has to our Madison facility without problems. ** Scooter will be brought to adoption events but is listed here because of his age. **

  • Recommended Placement: Fine with other cats. Should remain indoor-only.
  • SCOOTER GOT ADOPTED!
Starsky came to AdvoCATS along with Sandy and Perrin (see separate entries) when their guardian’s misfortune required their relinquishment. ** Starsky will be brought to adoption events but is listed here because of his age.**
  • Recommended Placement: Needs a buddy; we recommend Sandy (see separate entry) with whom he has grown up and bonded.
  • Starsky and Sandy should remain indoor-only cats.
  • STARSKY GOT ADOPTED!!

Thomas, 4 years old, came to AdvoCATs with Katie (see above). He's very sweet, very shy, and totally devoted to Katie. To separate them now would be cruel, as both would likely stop eating and quickly decline. They're looking for a sensitive person who will give them time to adjust the their new home. Once they're comfortable, both will bond with their new pet parent and be faithful companions for the rest of their lives.

  • Recommended Placement: Thomas must be placed with Katie, as they are completely bonded.
  • THOMAS GOT ADOPTED!
If there was an “all you care to have” buffet for affection, Topaz would be there. She appreciates affection and wantes as much as you can give. She will follow you around, wants to be picked up, held, and longs for early morning and evening attention.

Topaz’s family must be the most special in the world because none of our volunteers can understand why she otherwise has not been adopted. Topaz is a mild mannered adult whose paws go into the kneading motion as soon as she gets a purr going (which takes about 3 seconds after you start petting her). And yet when the toys come out, there she is with the energy of a younger feline, ready to engage. She’s a well-rounded, all-around awesome feline whose continued presence with AdvoCATs defies explanation.** Topaz will be brought to adoption events and is listed here because of her age and the length of time she’s been under our care without her home finding her. **

  • Recommended Placement: Gets along with other cats but also fine as an only cat provided she gets a lot of time/attention
  • Topaz should remain an indoor-only cat.
  • TOPAZ GOT ADOPTED!
Tuxedo

After both her pet parents died within weeks of each other, Trudy landed at a shelter, which thankfully returned her to AdvoCATs. Trudy needs a person or family that really wants to love and care for a cat, whether or not that cat returns the effort in kind. Trudy seems to take the approach that her love is to be earned, not expected or taken for granted. That said, she is a good cat who was in a “successful” partnership with a family. She is low-maintenance, not needy and she’ll be around to remind you of the better napping spots in your house. You’ll score extra points with Trudy if you remember and adhere to her prime directive: don’t pick me up.

  • Trudy is 9 years young.
  • Recommended Placement: Only cat

Longhaired black cat Tubby is a great cat with a great story to tell! He was found in and rescued from a minnow tank in 1997. He is an outdoor cat, is very loving, and would be a great companion. He has beautiful, long black fur that's just begging for a good brushing.

  • Recommended Placement: Outdoor cat.

Black catViese (sounds like “VC”) is a low-maintenance cat … meaning he doesn’t want much from you other than a reliable supply of food, fresh water, shelter, and your acknowledgement that he’s around but not too much touchy-feely stuff. He’s an independent guy who needs a home that wants to care for a cat but doesn’t want a needy, clingy, chatty, attention-grabbing buddy. An occasional head nod across the room, a knowing glance, and an every-now-and-then head scratch will do Viese just fine. He is a talkative cat and wants you to talk to him. Once he builds trust in you he will let you put your hands on his head. He is a strictly outdoor, “backporch” cat.

Winston was dropped off at PetSmart back in 2003. At the time, his family complained that Winston was urinating outside the litterbox. We took him in and he quickly found a home with a lovely family. They lived with him for several year, enjoying his company, giving him great love and care. But the litterbox issues continued, despite treatment and behavior modification. At the end of 2007, we took him back. The change of enviroment seems to have abated his litterbox issues. He might do better in a home where he as limited access to the outside.
