What's it like to be an AdvoCATs cat?

The volunteers at AdvoCATs work hard everyday to provide a healthy, nurturing Playing with catsenvironment for the cats and kittens waiting for forever loving homes. A few live in foster homes, where they get one-on-one attention, socialization, and special care. Most of our guests live in the Playroom in our main facility.

The Playroom is a large space filled with climbing trees, beds, chairs, and all manner of safe spaces for cats to hang out. Toys, mice, and balls abound (and tend to move around a lot)! There are separate cages for cats needing treatment, who just prefer some alone time.

Cats on the patioA door and open window lead our guests to a screened-in porch. This outdoor area is open year-round and offers fresh air, more climbing trees, a swinging bench, and an opportunity to interact with the outside in a safe space.

Volunteers maintain the Playroom's clean, healthy environment. Cages and litterboxes are cleaned several times a day. The entire Playroom is cleaned daily. A care center, kept entirely separate from the playroom, allows us to isolate cats and kittens needing close monitoring. At the first sign of illness, cats are moved into these separate cages and given special attention to nurse them back to health.

cats eating dinnerDinnertime is a sight to see! While good quality dry food and clean water is made available all day (we feed our guests Felidae dry food), everyone gets a serving of high quality moist food in the evening. It's truly a group dining experience!

cats watching toysPlaytime is incredibly important to the health and development of our cats and kittens. While they play with each other regularly, we also take time to offer some human-time. Volunteers play with the little ones and give the older cats the affection and interaction they crave.

Volunteering with AdvoCATs is an incredibly rewarding experience. Not only do you get to meet and come to love these amazing cats, you get to help them find the perfect family and move on to a forever-loving home. If you are interested in being volunteer or foster parent, please fill out our volunteer form!
