What is a special needs cat? Really, it's just someone who needs a little more love and a little more attention than the average tabby. She may be very shy and need more time to adjust. He may have a heart murmur and prefer a quiet household. Most special needs are easy to take care of, they need your love more than anything else. For more on our special needs cats and some wonderful pet parents who made them part of their families, see our annual calendar!
Meet Harry! Harry is an adult neutered black & white male cat. He has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (a heart disease where areas of heart muscle enlarge and thicken), which is being treated with medication. He is currently healthy and may live normally for years, but there are no guarantees given his condition. He is very loving to people, but is not fond of other cats.
A quick update on Harry: The kids in room 107 at the Phillips School "adopted" Harry as a class project! These fabulous kids learned about Harry and his heart condition. They raised enough money for a month's supply of his heart medication, plus a little extra for treats. They also wrote wonderful letters to Harry. Visit the Virtual Foster page to see their letter and learn more about our Virtual Foster program! Thanks, kids!
Harry is also featured in our calendar along with Stoney and Mosby, Veronica and Vanessa, Lady and Cinder, and Rachel.
Roberta is a lovely lady who needs a place of her own. She would love a house where she's the only cat and a person with the patience to give her the room she needs. Roberta has been "fostered" by Marshall Lee and Stella Ward, pet parents to Duchess. "I can't offer this lovely lady a home (Duchess would not care to share). I would like to offer some token for a caring heart. Sincerely, Marshal Ward, Stella Ward, and, of course, Duchess."
